[sticky entry] Sticky: Welcome to Atlantis Film Festival!

(banner by [personal profile] seleneheart)

Lights, Camera, Action!

The Atlantis Film Festival is a brand new fest, combining a love of Stargate Atlantis with a love of movie fusions!

The idea behind this challenge is to combine the characters we know and love from Stargate Atlantis with a movie of your choice. Any movie is fair game. Romantic comedy? Go for it! Western? Hell yes! Horror? Yes please! Fanworks can be based in the Stargate Universe or completely AU. They can be Gen or Het or Slash, anything goes!

You’re welcome to contribute Fic, Art or Podfic. All that we ask is that any Fic (or Podfic) be a minimum of 1,000 words long.

The fest will run from 1st March to 30th June and your mods [personal profile] respoftw  & [personal profile] popkin16  will be here the whole time providing motivation and to answer any queries you may have.

A prompting post can be found [here] if you’re looking for inspiration or you want to leave a little inspiration for someone else.

Art: The Arrangement - a Good Omens Fusion (SFW)

Title: The Arrangement (on AO3)

Rating: G
Characters/Pairings: Rodney McKay/John Sheppard
Medium: Watercolour, digitally finished.
Summary: Heaven and Hell’s North American representatives have an Arrangement, too.
Content Notes: No AO3 warnings apply. I'm regarding the coming TV adaptation of Good Omens as a serialised movie, for the purposes of this festival. The art's also inspired by [personal profile] trinityofone's story, linked on AO3.

Posting For Atlantis Film Festival Now Open

A little late, but I am pleased to announce that posting for this fest is now open!

There's an AO3 collection open which you can post to. Alternatively, you can announce them on the comm and we'll collate a masterlist once posting ends on 30th June.

I know that I'm still busy working away on my own SGA movie fusion and I can't wait to see what other people come up with. Remember, if you're stuck for ideas, we have a prompt post that you can hit up. Alternatively, if you're not able to take part but have a great idea for a movie fusion you would love to see then please leave a prompt. Who knows what you'll inspire?

So, without further ado...LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!

Happy Writing!

Resources - The Internet Movie Script Database

If you've ever written a movie fusion fanfic before you will likely know the pain of wanting to know that precise line of dialogue or wanting to refresh your mind with that one, pivotal scene that you need to get right.

I can't even count how many times I watched the source material for my first SGA fusion fic to get those details right. I do know that it was enough times that I was heartily sick of the film when I was done! (Although it's been a couple of years now so I'm back to loving it, phew!)

So, to prevent you from that pain, allow me to recommend The Internet Movie Script Database

This site is, unsurprisingly, a database of move scripts that you can read on the internet. It's very user-friendly, you can search for a specific film, browse by genre or look at all the scripts alphabetically. Even better, all of the scripts are in .html so you can read them in your browser.

This site was a godsend for me when I was writing my second SGA movie fusion. Gone was the nuisance of having to find my DVD and then find the specific scene, jumping back and forth between chapters until I got to the bit I wanted to see again. Instead, I just kept the script page in my browser favourites until I was done, using ctrl-F to find the specific scene I needed.

Total. Game. Changer.

I hope it brings as much relief to someone else as it did to me!

*Disclaimer* They claim to be the largest source online for film scripts but they're by no means exhaustive so the specific script you're looking for might not be on there. Sometimes googling works, sometimes it doesn't. Whether the movie you fancy tackling is on there or not, I wish everyone luck! Remember and drop by the prompt post if you're looking for inspiration!

Prompt Post 2019

Looking for inspiration? Have an idea you'd like to see come to life? Leave the film title and a brief description in the comments and yours might be picked!

Please be aware that someone might choose to write a fic based on the brief description, rather than a full, faithful adaptation of the movie (especially if they love the idea but can't get their hands on a copy of the movie).
